Architectural Engineering

While it’s related to architecture, architectural engineering is not the same thing as architecture.  Architectural engineering, sometimes referred to as building engineering, is the multidisciplinary practice of providing the necessary systems and features to a building, through engineering means, to ensure it is safe, habitable, and sanitary for the public or private families.  This branch of engineering involves structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and civil engineering.  It is heavily codified, so being a practitioner requires expert knowledge of building codes and standards and how they relate to building construction.
